The Spanish Curriculum at Kellman Brown Academy

Spanish, our nation's second language, is offered beginning in Grade 6 and every year
thereafter.  Our program introduces this foreign language to a student body that has
studied Hebrew since kindergarten; therefore, students are taught the four skills of
Spanish -- listening, speaking, reading, and writing-- at a relatively quick pace.  They are also introduced to various aspects of Hispanic culture.

Courses focus upon conversation related to student personalities, school, the family, daily life, and holidays.  Present and past tenses are taught.  Group story-writing begins during the second year.  Students use the same textbooks which are currently being used in the Cherry Hill High Schools.  Periodically, students learn about Hispanic music,
art, cuisine, geography, literature, and U.S. immigrants.  Games are used for vocabulary
review.

After three years of Spanish at Kellman Brown, capable students can qualify to enter
Spanish II at the high school level.
